Designed by Nicholas Hare Architects, the Golden Lane Campus building opened in April 2008. As well as the three educational settings, we are also home to family support workers, extended schools co-ordinator, social workers and part of the Camden and Islington PCT (Primary Care Team). We came together in the belief we could provide a high quality teaching and learning centre that would support the families and community of this area of Islington and the City.

The campus has been planned to provide the best possible care for children from birth to 11 years with the close cooperation of parents and carers. The actual building has been designed to meet the needs of the whole community. At the centre is a meeting/eating space for families and off that there are bookable rooms for meetings and courses.

The building is fully accessible (two lifts provide access to all public areas) and the rooms are planned for dual use - classroom furniture can be packed away allowing the space to change as appropriate - for drama space, therapy sessions and lectures.

We are working with children and families to:

• Provide children with a high standard of education in a purposeful learning environment where exploration and enquiry are encouraged and the teaching and learning fits the child.
• Give a voice to children by listening to and consulting with them.
• Encourage children to become independent learners.
• Develop children's moral, spiritual, social and cultural sensibilities.
• Cherish children's self -confidence and resilience so that they can make decisions and become competent contributors to their local community.

By working together with the local community Golden Lane Campus is a centre where people come together to learn, reflect, share interests and excitement and ultimately to become a community of learners with a real voice in the local area.
